Do This If You Never Want To Quit Again

You are the reason you don't make progress

What would my life look like by now if I didn't quit on the things I promised myself I would achieve?

You never asked yourself that question?

This is not easy to admit, but I quit a lot of things. Because I don't want to put in the work that it takes to achieve those things.

And I know, that anything worthwhile takes time to achieve. Yet, I don't put in the work.

I don't talk to the girl I like, so that I can daydream about the possibility of it working out. Instead of living with the outcome (good or bad).

I don't work on my writing business, so that I always have the hope of earning my money online. Instead of knowing that I can or can't earn money online.

I don't post content on X, so that I don't have to deal with not getting any likes and views.

Sounds this familiar?

In today's world with unlimited possibilities and unlimited distractions everyone suffers from this. The trick is program yourself to not fall into this distraction trap.

Why we only want to see the results

All these situations have one problem: we only want the end-result of things. And we don't want to put in the work to get these results.

The cause: a combination of an ego-problem and an instant-gratification problem.

We want to protect our ego. So we would rather live with the illusion that it is possible. Instead of working on making at a reality (with the possibility that it won't work out. And that shatters our ego).

And we are so used to instant gratification, that we can't work on things for a long time without seeing results.

All our hopes and dreams come to die because we can't handle the uncertain situation. We crave certainty.

We rather be certain of a negative outcome, than be uncertain about a possible positive outcome.

I know that if I talked to 100 girls, I would go on multiple dates.

But the uncertainty, and the possible rejection, keeps me from doing it. I rather have no dates and no rejection, than dates and rejections.

That's my ego protecting itself. But life never changes for the better when the ego protects itself.

Anything worthwhile is on the other side of the fear of your ego.

So we grow old without achieving our dreams. Without fulfilling our potential. We keep living in the illusion of what 'could-be' .

And eventually, we will settle. Settle for less that we could have achieved. But settle exactly for what we deserve.

Because we didn't have to guts to deal with the uncertainty. So only the guys who can deal with the uncertainty, get the results. It's risk-reward.

How your ego protects itself

I tend to daydream a lot. I like to imagine certain situations that will never happen. And that soothes my ego. Because in my daydream I am the winner. Without taking any real-life risk.

But on a sub-conscious level, this only signals to yourself that you are, in fact, a loser. Because in your daydream you focus on what you don't have.

You signal to yourself that you don't deserve it in real life. So you just try to get it in your head.

Like porn.

Daydreaming is pornography for your ego. It's not real. It is a fake replacement for the real deal.

Why we don’t see results

All this accomplishes is exactly: nothing.

We achieve nothing by postponing. We achieve nothing by daydreaming and distracting ourselves.

We want the results without the work. So we are not worthy of the results.

We want the results so bad, but can't handle the time working for the results. So we never achieve anything.

Motivation is focusing on the results. Consistency is focusing on the input. Discipline is knowing that eventually, the results will follow the input.

How can we overcome quitting

My solution is simple: We only quit because we don't see the results quick enough.

Instant gratification, and our ego, are forces that work against us. So you have to take these forces out of the equation.

How?

By not expecting any results.

Post without expecting any likes.

Talk without expecting a connection.

Work without expecting a promotion.

By setting expectations, you build a resistance when the expectation is not met. By removing the expectation, you remove the resistance.

Expectation is the root of all headache - Shakespeare

The catch: you must like what you are doing. Otherwise you'll never continue.

But that should not be a problem. We start a business, because we want to have the freedom and money.

It’s the expectation of immediate results make us quit.

Not expecting results make a mindset shift.

Your mindset shifts from:

I'm here for the money, to change my life as quick as possible.

to:

I'm here for the fun. Let me see where this takes me.

It takes the pressure of things. Now, your work comes from a place of gratitude instead of a place of forcing yourself.

That's how you overcome the problem of quitting.

The benefits

The benefits of using this method is that you take the pressure of the work you have to do.

Your mindset changes from:

- I have to talk to this girl to find a girlfriend

- I must write online to create new ideas

- I have to build a business online to excape the rate race

- I have to run every morning to do something hard every day

to:

- I get to talk to that person and see what happens

- I get to write online and watch what ideas come to me

- I get to build a business online and might learn something

- I get to run every morning and see where it takes me

The first one focuses on the result, on the outcome. But you can't control the outcome.

You can't control attraction, ideas, profits and results.

All you control, is yourself and your perspective of things. Let the universe, God, nature, the great Divine, take care of the outcome.

In fact, be happy that you don't control the results.

Because, let's me honest: we don't even know what's good for us. We don't even know what we like and dislike.

How many times did you like a girl, and she turned out to be a bitch?

How many times did you start an online business, and it turned out to be a very shitty business plan?

No, we don't have to control the outcomes.

We only control our input.

Final note

We live in interesting times. All the possibilities in the world are at your fingertips.

But, our ego has never been more exposed to social media. And we are more addicted to instant gratification than ever before.

The only way we can fight these negatives 'forces' is by not letting them in the play altogether.

By any undertaking, don't expect results. Do what you want to do, and see what happens.

This way, your ego won't get hurt. And you won't quit because there is no instant gratification. There is no gratification to expect.

Just do your thing.

Cheers,
